We are one of the few Palestinian film festivals in the UK, now entering our 6th year. As a small group of volunteers, we have successfully established the festival in the annual cultural calendar of Leeds, thanks to excellent curating, and partnerships with local cinemas, arts centres and film clubs. In the last two years most screenings have drawn capacity audiences. Our events included extras such as Q+As with film makers, ‘film and food’ nights, and funds raised for projects in Palestine. These provide opportunities to engage the audience before and after each film.
This year the long-standing injustices and human rights abuses faced by Palestinians in both the West Bank and Gaza have reached a new intensity and we want to reach out to embrace wider audiences. Also, prompted by the pandemic crisis, we have a new challenge: running an online festival and we need a big make-over of our marketing – a re-vamp of our branding, re-modelling of our website and a step-change in our social media presence. And all of this costs money!
By moving online we have the possibility to reach new audiences with our films and also provide live Q+A sessions with film makers. But to engage new audiences we need to approach our promotion completely differently. We want to re-model our website and dramatically improve our social media presence. And all of this costs money!
We‘ve been fortunate in attracting some great volunteers but we still need £800 to enable us to:
- Get our website re-designed
- Re-vamp our social media promotion
- Offer concessionary rate tickets so that everyone can be part of the festival.
And here’s some amazing perks for supporting us that you can’t live without!
£10 then we’ll include your name on our list of supporters on the website
£25 then we’ll include your name on our list of supporters AND we’ll offer you free entry to all films
£50 then we’ll include your name on our list of supporters AND you and two friends get free entry
